Meet Your Chicago 2011 GSWS Board

Your Chicago 2011 GSWS Board will be spending countless hours over the next year putting together the best tournament you have ever seen. We would like to take a minute to introduce the Board so you know a little about these great volunteers.

Jack Neilsen, Chair

Jack is the Charting Manager for Clear Channel Airports.  His prior volunteer work includes serving on the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association’s (CMSA’s) Softball Board (2003-Present); serving as the CMSA’s Softball Commissioner (2009, 2010); the CMSA’s Softball Assistant Commissioner (2008); the CMSA’s Open Division Dodgeball Commissioner (2008, 2009); the CMSA’s Thursday Softball Board (2004-Present); the CMSA’s Thursday Softball Commissioner (2007-Present); and, the CMSA’s Thursday Fall Softball Commissioner (2007-Present).

Ted Cappas, President

Ted’s prior volunteer work includes: serving as Co-Chair of Sports for Gay Games VI, Chicago; assisting in the start-up of the National Gay Basketball Association and serving as a Co-Chair; and, serving as Tournament Director for the Coady Roundball Classic basketball tournament for seven years.  Ted is currently a self-employed collateral field examiner, performing due diligence audits for commercial lending institutions on loans ranging from $1 million to $200 million.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his MBA from DePaul University.

Brian Redar, Director of Operations

Brian has been an attorney licensed in the State of Illinois since 1995.  He has participated in and volunteered for numerous gay sports organizations and tournaments.  Brian has been a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association since 1994.  In 2003, he served as the Tournament Director for the first Chi-Town Classic gay softball tournament, held in Chicago.  Brian was the Director of the softball events at the 2006 Gay Games, also held in Chicago.  He has served as an umpire in Chicago’s gay softball league for approximately 8 years and was umpire in chief of the Senior Cup gay softball tournament in 2004.

Joe Cappelletti, Director of Finance

Joe has 25 years experience in the commercial real estate industry in several financial-related positions. Currently, he is CFO of a private REIT with assets under management in excess of $6 billion.  He has an undergraduate degree in accounting, an MBA in finance and is an Illinois registered CPA.  He has been involved in CMSA for several years, including serving as a CMSA Board member; softball league commissioner; and Tournament Director for the Chi-Town Classic softball tournament.   Additionally, Joe served as Co-Chair of Sports for Gay Games VI, Chicago

Aaron Brost, Director of Marketing & Special Events

Aaron has 15 years experience in marketing, public relations and event planning and management.  He is President and owner of Ro-Bro Marketing & Public Relations, Inc. (www.ro-bro.com).  Aaron has been involved with Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association for 14 years, including softball, volleyball, tennis and bowling.  He is also Director of Marketing & Events for CMSA and served in 2010 as Field Director for the Chi-Town Classic Softball Tournament.  Aaron is the founder of the Gay Marketers of Chicago and the Chicago PR-TY public relations networking groups.  He currently sits on the advisory board for The Men’s Club and is the Communications Head of the Illinois Safe School Alliance.  He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in Communication Studies and Spanish.

Larry Kuhn, Director of Sponsorships

Larry Kuhn has held executive level positions in the hospitality, recruiting and distribution fields and is currently working as a Senior Associate Director in Development and Alumni Relations with Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.Larry has served on the Board of Directors for Gerber/Hart Library and was the Development Director for Gay Games VII, Chicago 2006.He has participated in gay sports nationally and was instrumental in developing softball leagues in Connecticut and Memphis, Tennessee. Larry’s sports include softball, football, basketball and volleyball. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Larry attended Miami University of Ohio and did post graduate work at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Management Institute.

Olin Eargle, Director of Fundraising

Olin Eargle has been involved with the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association since 2006 and participated in the 2010 GSWS. Currently, Olin is a residential Real Estate agent with The Felder Eargle Real Estate Group within @properties and has been working in Real Estate for over five years. He has a BA in Communication Advertising from Appalachian State University with a minor in Theatre Arts, emphasis on Musical Theatre. Olin has worked both for Harpo Studios and The Oprah Winfrey Show as well as with the Trump Organization at Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago. Additionally, he is the Marketing Director for The Chicago Cabaret Project and handles the promotion and publicity for the Chicago based company. Professionally, he is a member of NAR, IAR, CAR, CCP, WANT and YPC, all Illinois based organizations.

Bob Moore, Director of Volunteers

Bob Moore is vice president of the knowledge and learning experiences department at a non-profit professional association. He has worked in association management for 12 years. During this time he has managed thousands of volunteers and association related programming. Bob has been a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association since 2002, participating in volleyball and badminton. He has served as captain of these teams and participated in the 2006 Gay Games. Bob received his undergraduate degree from Illinois State University and his masters degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He is also a certified association executive.…
