Party guest see a cupcake, and think "portion control. It is a small cupcake, as opposed to a large slice of cake. Therefore, when one is offered a piece of cake, the "small request" can be eliminated. One doesn't have to verbally single themselves out, requesting a "small piece". The "small piece" request always comes off as if you are trying not to indulge. It's a party, everyone is indulging. The expression is very worn out, old and tired. Three cheers for the cupcake.
Have you been to an event recently and been surprised that instead of a regular cake, you were treated to an elaborate cupcake display? Cupcakes seem to be all the rage nowadays. Cupcakes seem to be the trendy thing to serve at any gathering, from baby showers to weddings, or birthday galas to Super Bowl parties. Cupcakes are easy to eat, full of delicious flavor and exciting eye-catching delights. It seems everyone loves those sweet little concoctions. But, are they really just cute little miniature cakes, or are they a wonderfully flavorful dessert deserving their own title?
I love cupcakes. Nothing is prettier that a cupcake. A cupcake is a small, individual version of a cake. A cupcake stands alone, or you can place in a group. Personalize them into your own creative cupcake recipe and baking creation.
While some of the upscale cupcake boutiques use expensive ingredients like Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, you don't have to go all out to create cupcakes fit for a special event like a wedding. Just be sure to use fresh and natural ingredients, such as butter and fresh fruit instead of margarine and frozen.
Until the turn of the 20th century, cupcake pans were virtually unheard of forcing bakers to use more formidable cups for baking, unless they wanted to bake their small cakes into loaf form. Using hearth ovens, which needed longer cooking times for larger cakes, caused bakers to seek other ways to bake their cake and still have time to eat it. With the advent of the cupcake, not only were bakers able to achieve shorter cooking times, they were also able to change the way they prepared them once the baking part was finished. No longer did bakers need to create larger, heavier cakes. With the production of the cupcake, people could slake their desire for something small and sweet.
