As far as cupcake decoration is concerned, there are many things that you can use to enhance the look and feel of cupcakes like edible glitters, sprinklers, colors and luster sprays. You may also add attractive fondants of different shapes, fruit pieces, chocolate chips and gems to your cupcakes.
If you like chocolate-dipped frozen banana, you will certainly love this fantastic combination of banana cupcake and chocolate frosting. You can make it even chocolatier by sprinkling some chocolate chips on the top of it. However, if you are not a very huge fan of chocolate, you can garnish your cupcakes with crushed walnuts in order to relish that nutty banana bread flavor.
If you're going to decorate your cupcakes, make sure they have cooled completely. Warm cupcakes can melt your decorations or icing and give them an amateur look. The sky is the limit when decorating your cupcakes. Multi-colored sprinkles or dressage give a festive look without taking much time. Use your imagination and let your creative juices flow when decorating. You may surprise yourself.
Prior to the introduction of the cupcake to the kitchens of America, cakes were made by weighing the ingredients. Cupcakes were made by measuring the ingredients for the first time. It has been suggested that this is perhaps where the term "cup cake" originated, since everything was measured in cups. Other origins of the name have also been offered, such as the fact they are baked in a cup but at one time, cupcakes were also called "number cakes". This name originated from the recipe, whereby it required "...once cup butter, two cups sugar, three cups flour, four eggs..." At one time, recipes called for cupcakes to be "...baked into little tins."
Use the exact amounts of the ingredients. Many a would-be chef has botched the execution of a perfectly good recipe by using bad measuring techniques. (Actually, for many people who can't bake, this is their real problem. They don't take the time to measure accurately.) Follow the recipe and measure your ingredients correctly. It's important for the ingredients to come out in proper proportion to one another based on the recipe. Also, don't forget: When a recipe calls for eggs, it usually means large eggs unless otherwise specified.
